Music 105 Week Five Assignment Reflection:

What happened? (Stage One)

The assignment for week five was to pick a rhythmic poem, introduce the rhythmic poem with a steady beat and demonstrate using "ta's and ti's" in place of the words.

What went well? (Stage Two)

Overall, this entire video gave me problems. I did the video once, and after I thought uploaded the video, I realized it didn't upload so I had to re do this assignment and re upload the assignment. after re uploading, I found out on Friday (thanks to a peer) that the video was not even public. I did not have any trouble with the video from the week before, naturally though, that just could not continue. The lesson that I "taught" though according to my peer, and professor, is that the rhythm was correct and the beat was correct which is four beats per measure.

What would I change? (Stage 3)

After peer review, I realized that I did not demonstrate my ta's and ti's correctly, I actually left one out. which would not add up or make sense, because there is four beats per measure, and It was not coming out that way with the ta's and the ti's.

What did I learn from my peers? (Stage 3)
1. After watching many of their videos, I think it helped me hear the ta's and ti's better, and to better understand them!
2. After my professor pointed out the ta's and ti's I sat down and wrote my ta's and ti's above the words, and I realize that I should have done this before presenting because then I would have SEEN that I was missing one.

Overall, I think that I had the right idea, but should have (especially knowing how visual I am) written the beat and rhythm out and practiced it a few more times before publishing the video.

  1. Morgan,
I did the same poem as you and I had the exact same problem with my "tas' and tis". I agree with you about first writing them down over the words and we would have seen that we were missing one before we recited it. I'm defiantly doing that next time!

  2. I ended up having to write out my ti's and ta's as well so I made sure I had all my syllables taken care off. I found the visual aid helped out a lot..
